Next Generation of Care
CHRISTUS St. Joseph Villa has launched the public phase of its campaign to raise $4.3 million to help pay for a new building to replace the outdated 1959 building and relocate some of its existing services.
The new building will be located on another part of the campus, to allow residents to remain at the Villa without disruption of services while the new building is being constructed. The new building will accommodate the existing Special Care (Alzheimer’s) Program, as well as Assisted Living accommodations and a new Alzheimer’s service for those in the early stages of the disease. Additionally, the Long-Term Care residents currently located in the 1959 building will be relocated to the current Assisted Living. “We are very excited about our plans and feel they will allow us to provide a better environment for our residents, as well as a new service that is much needed in our community,” said Galen Ewer, CEO of CHRISTUS St. Joseph Villa.
The total cost of architectural design and other services, construction, equipment and furnishing of the new Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Care building, as well as renovation of current space for the Long-Term Care program is estimated to be $20 million. “CHRISTUS St. Joseph Villa has a commitment for financing from CHRISTUS Health,” reports Ewer “based on a guarantee of community philanthropic support of $4.3 million. Therefore, our Board of Directors has launched an area-wide capital fundraising campaign with a goal of $4.3 million.”
The Campaign for the Next Generation of Care is being co-chaired by Jenifer and Mike Gibbons. “This project is vital for CHRISTUS St. Joseph Villa and for each of us,” said Jenifer Gibbons. “For CHRISTUS St. Joseph Villa to continue to provide the high quality care we all want for ourselves, our families and loved ones, we in this community must step forward and help.”
The campaign has already received over $3.0 million in gifts and pledges from the CHRISTUS St. Joseph Villa Board of Directors, Employees, Volunteers and lead gifts. Lead gift commitments include: The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, the McCarthey Family, the S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney Foundation, the Emma Eccles Jones Foundation, the Frederick Q. Lawson Foundation, the Janet Q. Lawson Foundation and the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City.
“We are truly grateful to those who have made commitments so far,” added Gibbons. “It is our hope that the community will follow in an equally generous manner so that the Next Generation of Care project will become a reality.”
